Jesmond (Post Office) adopted 3 March 1955 on 92P as identified in the 1953 BC Gazetteer. Form of name changed to Jesmond (locality) 29 November 1984 on Ottawa file 203-2, as identified in the 1966 BC Gazetteer.

Jesmond Post Office was opened 1 March 1918, as named by the postmaster after his father's birthplace - the postmaster's father, P. Coldwell, was born at Jesmond, a suburb of Newcastle on Tyne. Jesmond Post Office was closed 31 March 1960.
