Origin Notes and History of Bestwick
References to Bestwick that document the origin of its place name
Bestwick (Post Office) adopted 7 June 1927 on Kamloops sheet (Ottawa file OBF 1140), as labelled on BC map 1EM, 1915, and on Dominion sectional sheet 111, Kamloops, 1916. Re-approved 2 March 1950 on 92 I. Form of name changed to Bestwick (Settlement) and coordinates shifted to school site 4 June 1959 on 92 I/9, following closure of the PO. Form of name later changed to Bestwick (community).
Bestwick Post Office opened 1 September 1911, named after Ralph Bestwick, postmaster. Previously the general area had been known as Campbell Meadows (not clear why that name was not given to the new post office). Post Office closed 28 February 1958.
