"Originally called Woodward, in honour of the families of brothers Henry and Thomas Woodward, early settlers in the area, who died in 1908 and 1903, respectively. The name was changed to Coyle because of a conflict with the name of a post office in eastern Canada. Also formerly called the Station. (Nicola Herald, 17 May 1907, Sigurd Teit)"
