Carrolls Landing (Steamer Landing) was adopted 5 March 1953 on Columbia River Basin manuscript 18, as labelled on BC map 4H, 1926, as identified in the 1930 BC Gazetteer, and as identified in CPR timetables from 1939 or earlier. Form to name changed to Carrolls Landing (settlement) 9 June 1960, relocated upland in advance of the flooding of the Columbia River behind the Keenleyside Dam. Subsequently changed to Carrolls Landing (locality).

Carrolls Landing Post Office opened 14 December 1938 located at Lot 7542, Bk 14; closed 9 April 1951. CPR Steamer service discontinued April 1954. Carrolls Landing Postal Agency was established sometime in 1954, whereby a designated resident acts as an agent for the other residents, accepting mail, parcels, etc. on their behalf, but is not a postmaster. Postal Agency discontinued November 1968.
