Robson (town) adopted in the 18th Report of the Geographic Board of Canada, 31 March 1924. Robson (Post Office, Steamer Landing and Settlement) identified in the 1930 BC Gazetteer. Form of name changed to Robson (Post Office and Station) 6 December 1951 on Columbia River Basin manuscript 14. Form of name changed to Robson (community) 28 February 1983 on 82F/5.

Originally called Sproats Landing, after Gilbert Sproat, gold commissioner in the district. Robson Post Office was opened 1 August 1892, named after the Honourable John Robson, Premier of British Columbia 1889- 1892.
