Camp Lister (Post Office) adopted in the 1930 BC Gazetteer; confirmed 7 December 1937 on Geological Survey sheet 603A, Nelson, and 16 July 1948 on 82F/E. Name changed to Lister (Post Office) 7 December 1950 on 82F/E; confirmed 6 December 1951 on Columbia River Basin manuscript 61. Form of name changed to Lister (community) 29 November 1984.

Camp Lister Post Office was opened 1 August 1920, named after Colonel Lister, MP. Re-named Lister Post Office 2 January 1951.
