Granite Siding (settlement) adopted in the 1930 BC Gazetteer. Form of name changed to Granite (settlement) 7 October 1947 on Columbia River Basin manuscript 10; confirmed 2 March 1948 on 82F/6. Form of name subsequently changed to Granite (community).

Granite Siding Post Office opened 1 February 1912 on Lot 3267, situated approximately 1 mile SE of CPR's Granite Siding and 1/2 mile E of the mouth of Sandy Creek. Post Office closed 1 July 1918.
